A new affirmation card for you each week from Rainbows
"My life is an exciting adventure."
As ye believe, so ye receive!
Did you know that three quarters of the thoughts you had today, are the same as the ones you had yesterday, and the ones you'll have tomorrow? If those thoughts are tending towards the negative side then today's philosophers say that this is what you're creating in your life - negativity. So it makes good sense to create and use your own affirmations to help counteract those negative thoughts and help you on your way to a more positive future.
It's easy to create and use your own affirmations. Just follow the simple guidelines below and you'll soon get the hang of it. And remember, the more you use them, the more effective they'll be.
Create Your Own Affirmations
An affirmation is always three things... positive, present tense, and personal.
Positive means that you state what you want in glowing terms.
Present tense means that you state it as if it had already happened.
Personal means that you can use any words and phrases that are personal to you.
So if, for instance, you wanted to work on your prosperity, you would say "I am always open and receptive to prosperity." Or, "Money flows to me easily and effortlessly now."
Be careful to state what you want and not what you don't want. For example, don't say something like "I'm never late" use "I'm always early now" instead. And don't say, "I will be " as that would mean that your would always be waiting for you some time in the future.
Once you get the hang of it, you'll be surprised how easily you can do it and you'll find yourself creating affirmations for everything.
Ways To Use Affirmations
So when you've created your affirmations, how do you use them?
Firstly you can say them to yourself morning, noon and night. A thousand times an hour is not too much! Say them out loud or mentally, whichever's right for you at the time.
Sing them to yourself. Use short sentences and put them to music of your own or use a familiar or popular tune. Once you've done this, you can access the affirmation by just humming the tune when you're in public.
Say them to yourself in the mirror while looking into your own eyes. This doubles their effectiveness.
An exercise I like to do is to write an affirmation down ten or twenty times on a sheet of A4 paper. This is like a double hit as youre both reading and writing them at the same time. If, while you're writing, you feel resistance or get a negative thought come into your mind, turn your paper over and write your negative thought on the back. Then go back to writing your affirmation. When youve finished, turn your paper over. Your negative thoughts on the back of the page will enable to see whats holding you back from achieving your dream. Then you can create another affirmation to counteract that.
You could also write and illustrate your affirmation (like the one above) on an A5 sheet then hang it somewhere you can see it every day. Or do it on a small credit-card sized piece of card and keep it in your purse. That way, you'll see it every time you open your purse. Good for affirmations about money!
And, of course, you can use your affirmations during your visualisations or meditations.
One possible caveat to using affirmations is that you should not use too many different ones at once. You can easily get confused and overwhelmed that way. Stick to using one at a time until you feel it's time to move on, or something more pressing comes up for you.
And remember, the more you use your affirmations, the more effective they become.
